IPTAAS – NSW

The Isolated Patients Travel and Accommodation Assistance Scheme (IPTAAS) is a NSW Government initiative designed to financially assist patients traveling long distances for specialised healthcare. Patients from regional NSW who need to travel at least 100km one way or 200km cumulative in a week for treatment that is not available locally may be eligible. This includes travel for multiple trips to and from the same treatment location.

IPTAAS provides financial assistance towards costs such as:

Eligible patients must be referred for treatment at their nearest health service, and referrals can be made by GPs, allied health clinicians, nurses, or visiting medical officers. Patients provide the details of the referral with their claim.

Patients can apply by completing the claim forms and emailing them to IPTAAS, or by printing and sending via post or an IPTAAS office. Offices are located at Dubbo, Broken Hill, Tamworth, and Port Macquarie.

Translating Interpreting Services (TIS National) are also available on 13 14 50, and in-language resources can be accessed on the IPTAAS website.

Can Assist – Cancer Assistance Network

Can Assist branches provide financial assistance for local people affected by cancer. Assistance may cover travel and accommodation costs, wigs, prosthetics, pharmaceutical bills, etc. For more information, visit canassist.org.au.

Coffs Harbour Breast Cancer Buddies

Look Good Feel Better

Facing Cancer with Confidence. Look Good Feel Better is a national cancer-support program that offers free in-person and online workshops and Confidence Kits to help people with any type of cancer. They meet in our Hub once every 2 months. For more information, visit lgfb.org.au.

NeuroEndocrine Cancer Australia

Mid North Coast Cancer Institute (MNCCI)

The MNCCI has facilities at Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie Health Campus. Each facility provides an integrated multi-disciplinary team approach to the treatment and support of patients.
